Anna & Paige: A Kansas City Engagement Session, Sunrise at the scout to Loose Park pavilion

We started before Kansas City was even awake (like Piper got to my house at 5am early).

The Scout at sunrise is beautiful if you're Anna and Paige, and a very different thing if you're the photographer lying in tall, wet grass at 6am getting eaten alive by bugs to get the angle. Worth it.

That view over the city doesn't happen twice in a day, and neither does the light.

From there we went went for a little posed editorial moment. Penn Valley Skate Park with some boards, brah. Okay I don't think either of them skateboard, but I had mine in the back of the car so it made for a rad photo, mmkay?

We ran through some of the Westside and area murals next, because Kansas City's outdoor art scene deserves to be in more engagement sessions than it is, and because Anna and Paige's energy matched the walls better than most. The murals were on of their requests.

Closed the day out at Loose Park. Classic for a reason. Sometimes you need the contrast of skate park faux grit against old-growth trees and a rose garden to remind you both halves are real. Duplicity, or something, right?

This is what we mean when we say we shoot alternative engagement sessions in Kansas City. Not a template. Not a pose list copied from Pinterest. A day built around who two people actually are.
